DESCRIPTION:Now here’s a unique concept: every year, between 500 and 700 Massachusetts kids, aged 7-17 with a variety of abilities and disabilities, from all races and socio-economic classes, come together to enjoy the summer camp experience, enriched by elements of inclusion and diversity. Campers with developmental disabilities—including, but not limited to, Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, deafness and Muscular Dystrophy—join able-bodied peers in traditional camp activities like arts and crafts, water sports, hiking and even rock-climbing. Specially-trained staff and purpose-built facilities ensure that children are given appropriate attention according to their needs, but also giving them freedom to gain integration skills and build self-esteem—while having fun, too! Parents are thrilled, and report their children return home with greater confidence, independence, and acceptance of differences in others. Financial assistance is provided to families in need, and staff are effective in controlling costs. You will enjoy supporting them, and bringing a real difference to these children’s lives.
